Tuning Oracle Veridata

Oracle GoldenGate Veridata – Tuning Oracle Veridata

Oracle GoldenGate Veridata is the most effective tool for comparing, validating and repairing data between homogeneous and heterogeneous databases.  As powerful as it is, Oracle GoldenGate Veridata must evolve with the business requirements it has been deployed to support.  This includes regular evaluation and most importantly, tuning Oracle Veridata. Tuning Oracle Veridata varies depending on the number of tables to be compared and the data types being compared.

Tuning Oracle Veridata – Veridata Memory Allocation

The memory allocation that Weblogic and Veridata start with from the docs is oftentimes insufficient.  In the startup scripts (or service under Windows) you will notice two parameters -Xms and -Xmx.  The -Xms is the starting memory and -Xmx represents the max memory.  You might see something similar to this:

WebLogic Admin Server            -Xms32m -Xmx200m
Veridata                                   -Xms512m -Xmx1536m

I have found these values to be too low.  I would suggest as a start setting them to something like this:

WebLogic Admin Server            -Xms256m -Xmx2048m
Veridata                                   -Xms1024m -Xmx8192m
