GoldenGate 12.2 Monitoring with Oracle OEM 13c Cloud Control  Part 2

In my previous blog entry, Part 1, I showed how to configure the server side of Oracle GoldenGate 12.2 monitoring on OEM 13c Cloud Control.  In Part 2 I will pick up where I left off.

Part 2 consists of the following 3 steps:

  1. Extend OEM 13c for GoldenGate Monitoring. OEM 13c is the latest in Oracle performance Enterprise Management.  Since OEM 12c the Oracle Cloud Control server has been extensible at both the OMS and Agent.
    1. From the Setup drop-down select Setup

Extensibility

Plug-Ins.

  • Expand Middleware and select Oracle GoldenGate.
  • From the Plug-ins “Deploy-On” drop-down select On Management Server.
  • Continue with the prompts to deploy the Oracle GoldenGate plug-in.
  • Extend the OEM Agent for GoldenGate Monitoring.
    1. From the Setup drop-down select Setup
  • Plug-Ins.

  • Expand Middleware and select Oracle GoldenGate.
  • From the Plug-ins “Deploy-On” drop-down select On Management Agent.
  • Select the Agent to deploy on.
  • Continue with the prompts to deploy the Oracle GoldenGate plug-in.
  • Discover the GoldenGate targets. This is where OEM is essentially connected to the GoldenGate Monitor agent via the OEM agent.
    1. From the OEM 13c console select Add Target

    Configure Auto Discover from the Setup dropdown menu.

  • This will invoke the Configure Auto Discovery Screen.

  • Select the Advanced Discovery Modules Tab.

  • Click on GoldenGateDiscovery

  • Click on the +Add button.

  • Select a target and click Select. The new target is added.

  • Select the new target and click the Edit Parameters button.

  • Fill in the Jagent User Name, the Agent Password, Jagent RMI Port and Jagent Host Name. Click OK when completed.

  • Click OK to continue.

  • Select the Targets on Hosts tab.

  • Select the target that you just added and click the Discover Now button. This will run the auto discovery on that target.

  • When the auto discovery has completed click the close button. You will be returned to the main Targets on Hosts screen.

  • Note that the number of discovered targets has increased from 6 to 8. Click on the discovered targets link, in this case the 8.

  • Notice the ogg target at the bottom. Highlight that target and click Promote.

  • In this configuration we have only the manager. Once we add additional extracts, pumps and replicats we will re-run the discovery.  Check any box that is available and then click the Promote button.

  • Once the job has completed click Close.

  • From the Manage Agents screen click Submit. Then select OGG Home.

  • This concludes the configuration of GoldenGate monitoring in OEM 13c.

    GoldenGate monitoring provides extensive monitoring capabilities as well as the ability to alert on many different metrics.
