Optimizing Microsoft SQL
Server 2005
Overview
This class is designed for the DBA, system designer and system architect
who are familiar with SQL Server. The student will become proficient with the integration and optimization of of SQL Server on
a storage area network (SAN) platform. In addition this class includes the usage
and interpretation of the SQL Profiler, optimizing indexes and
SQL statements using the Query Analyzer.
Course Objectives
More than sixty percent of SANs deployed today will use one of the
major relational database management systems to run applications and
present increasing amounts of valuable information to end users. The
"Optimizing SQL Server 2005" course combines in-depth
technical training on SAN fundamentals with SQL Server concepts, to
provide the student with a comprehensive ability to plan, configure
and deploy Microsoft’s SQL Server 2000 in a SAN environment.
"Optimizing SQL Server 2005" is designed
for the system designer/architect and database administrator. This
class will cover not only the architecture and function of the SAN,
but how it interacts with SQL Server and how it should be configured
in a database Environment.
After completing this class, the student will have all the basics
to maximize their SQL Server and SAN investment.

Prerequisites
The student must be familiar with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or SQL
Server 2000. No prior experience with SANs is required.
Lab Work
This course includes hands-on labs where the student can become
familiar with SAN hardware in a SQL Server environment.
