#40-Linux Performance Tuning and Administration

This three day class combines’ in-depth technical training and fundamentals with Linux concepts, to provide the student with a comprehensive ability to plan, configure and administer Linux and Linux based applications.  After completing this class, the student will have the basics to maximize their operating system knowledge and administration skills.  UNIX System Administrators and DBAs that are responsible for configuring, monitoring and administering a Linux based environment will benefit greatly from this course.

#50 - Oracle TimesTen 7.0 (In-Memory Database)

This four day course provides a working knowledge of the Oracle TimesTen 7.0 IMDB architecture. Students will learn how to install and administer a TimesTen data store, create an operational data store and properly manage the various elements including performance tuning, user/privilege management, and connection configuration modes.

#60 - Oracle Maximum Availability with Data Guard

This three day class covers the implementation and administration of Oracle Data Guard. This class is designed for the database administrator, systems administrator, or operations personnel that are responsible for data availability and disaster recovery in an Oracle environment. Students will gain knowledge on the installation, configuration and monitoring of the Oracle Data Guard. In addition, the student will learn both the physical and logical standby modes of Data Guard as well as industry “best practices” to maximize data availability.

#70 - Oracle 10g Grid Control Implementation and Administration

This five day class covers the implementation and administration of Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control.  Oracle Grid Control delivers centralized management functionality for the complete Oracle IT infrastructure. Students will gain knowledge on the installation, configuration and monitoring of the Oracle Grid Control framework. The student will also learn how to monitor and manage Oracle and non-Oracle applications. Hands-on lab exercises help students learn how to use Grid Control to manage, monitor, and administer their data center.

#100 - Oracle Database 11g R2: New Features for Administrators

This five day class provides students an opportunity to learn about key enhancements in Oracle Database 11g Release 2. Students will examine the benefits and use of features in managing change, diagnosing and resolving problems, improving scalability and performance, strengthening security, and several other areas covering database administration. In addition, hands-on lab exercises will be used to reinforce key concepts and capabilities.

#200 - Oracle Database 11g R2: RAC for Administrators

This five day class provides an introduction to the features of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) Release 2 as well as the tasks necessary to properly install, configure and maintain an Oracle RAC cluster.  Students will learn how Oracle RAC works, the components necessary to create the RAC cluster and how to administer it.  This course is comprised of approximately 50% hands-on lab and 50% lecture with the primary focus on maintaining and administering Oracle RAC.  This course is also available for Oracle 10g.

#300 -Oracle Database 11g R2: RAC Deployment Workshop

This four day class provides users familiar with the Oracle database experience in configuring and deploying Oracle RAC Release 2. Students will gain experience in Oracle clusterware, ASMLib, ASM, OCFS2 and Oracle RAC. The student will become proficient in configuring Oracle RAC on Linux, including the upgrade process. This course is comprised of approximately 70% hands-on lab and 30% lecture with the primary focus on configuration and tuning of Oracle RAC. The student must be familiar with Oracle 10g RAC and should have completed the Oracle 10g RAC Administration class. This course is also available for Oracle 10g.

This four day class is designed for those that wish to learn how to tune Oracle databases and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) on Linux or UNIX operating systems. Students will become proficient in all aspects of Oracle database performance tuning, including database and instance tuning, and SQL tuning. The hardware and software interactions that affect Oracle database performance are also covered in this course and includes tuning the operating system, Oracle I/O and storage area networks. Hands-on lab exercises will be used to reinforce key Oracle performance tuning concepts.

This four day class is designed for those that wish to learn how to tune Oracle databases and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) on Windows operating systems. Students will become proficient in all aspects of Oracle database performance tuning, including database and instance tuning, and SQL tuning. The hardware and software interactions that affect Oracle database performance are also covered in this course and includes tuning the operating system, Oracle I/O and storage area networks. Hands-on lab exercises will be used to reinforce key Oracle performance tuning concepts.

#600 - Oracle Data Warehouse Design and Implementation

This four-day hands-on course covers the three stages of data warehouse physical design implementation:  staging, ETL (extraction, transformation, and loading), and presentation.  After a brief discussion of multi-dimensional design, this course will focus on the tasks and Oracle tools used to physically implement an Oracle data warehouse and present the data.

#700- Introduction to PL/SQL

Give your IT staff the knowledge of using Oracle’s procedural language: PL/SQL. The focus of this course is to provide students with a working knowledge of SQL and the ability to develop Oracle procedures, functions, and database triggers using PL/SQL. The course utilizes a variety of current tools.  Students will have the opportunity to learn more about SQL Developer, TOAD, as well as the Oracle tools like SQL*Plus. The instructor will cover topics including how to code PL/SQL, accessing data in a variety of methods, error handling, and will touch on debugging PL/SQL. Students will also learn how to use TOAD **OR** Oracle’s free Project Raptor tool to assist with their day-to-day development needs.  Attendees will be able to use TOAD or SQL Developer to do the lab exercises and learn how to use the Procedure Editor and debug their PL/SQL routines.

The focus of this course is to provide students with a working but basic knowledge of SQL and the PL/SQL languages. This course utilizes a variety of current tools.  Students will have the opportunity to learn more about TOAD and SQL Developer, as well as the Oracle tools like SQL*Plus. The attendees will learn how to find the poorly-performing components of PL/SQL routines, use Oracle’s newer DEBUG routines to find problems in PL/SQL logic and how to use the latest features of the PL/SQL language such as the new optimizing compiler and collections.

#900-Discoverer for End Users Workshop

Give your technical staff that competitive edge with this Oracle Discoverer Workshop.  This course introduces students to the querying and analytical capabilities of Oracle Discoverer using either the Desktop and/or web interfaces Discoverer Plus and Viewer. Students will learn to create, modify, run, and refine ad hoc queries. They will learn to view, chart, and analyze multidimensional data and produce individual ad hoc reports.

#1000- Discoverer for Administrators Workshop

This course gives students hands-on experience with setting up Oracle Discoverer. Students will practice administrative tasks using Discoverer’s Administration Edition tool. Students will learn to create an End User Layer and create and manage business areas. They will learn how to hide the complexity of the data source and provide a user-friendly view of the data for end users.

#1100-Oracle SQL Statement Tuning Workshop

The focus of this tuning course is to illustrate coding techniques that insure a consistent response time between instances and releases of the Oracle database. This course is perfect for developers who need to know more on how Oracle works and how to get their SQL to perform better.  The course utilizes a variety of current tools.  Students will have the opportunity to learn more about Oracle’s free SQL Developer, TOAD, Eagle Eye, TextPAD, as well as the Oracle tools like SQL*Plus, TKProf, and Stats Pack.

Students will work with a variety of SQL statements and how to optimize their performance.  Students will also experience how to monitor their application environment, indexes, and troubleshoot problem SQL in their applications. This course includes advanced topics which focus on a variety of parameter settings that make a big difference to Oracle-based applications (such as OPTIMIZER_INDEX_CACHING & INDEX_COST_ADJUSTMENT).  This workshop includes a section on monitoring Oracle RDBMS and SQL via the v$ tables and TOAD.  This course is packed full of scripts to discover a variety of issues.
