Technical Training - Frequently Asked Questions

How are PTC courses different than other course offerings?

PTC courses are more holistic in nature and cover not only the application technology, but key elements of the system architecture, such as the operating system, storage, and network infrastructure. In addition, many of our courses are constructed in a modular format, allowing participants to tailor content to their specific interests or business requirements.

What practical experience do PTC instructors bring to the classroom?

Many of PTC instructors are practicing consultants and authors on performance optimization, high availability, disaster recovery and other technologies. As practicing consultants, they bring valuable practical experience to the classroom.

PTC offers both "live" virtual classes and client-site courses.  How are they different?

Our "Live" Virtual Classes are designed to be taught over the web and are delivered by the same top rated instructors. They offer the same technical content and hands-on instruction as our client-site courses. Both client-site and virtual courses include a comprehensive training manual, and may also include workbooks for lab learning.

For courses with labs, what percentage is lab work versus classroom lecture?

Most classes are approximately a 50/50 mixture of lab and lecture. Some courses or workshops may have higher lab content due to their complexity or higher technical content.

What equipment do students need to participate in a virtual course?

Students will need a computer with an internet browser, high speed network connection and a telephone to access a conference number to communicate with our instructor. Upon registration, each student will receive a course manual in an electronic (PDF) format to review ahead of the class start date.  Prior to the class start date, students will receive instructions to verify their computer is ready for class.

What facilities and equipment must the client provide for client-site classes?

  • Client-site classes require a training or conference room with seating up to 15 students.
  • Electronic projector with laptop connection (if a projector is not available, PTC can provide one).
  • Classroom with a network drop for each PC or a network connection with a wireless access point for wireless access.
  • Labs are performed running pre-loaded applications on student notebooks, or in some cases, by logging into PTC's remote servers.
  • Class participants must provide their own laptops with network connection or wireless capability.

For PTC’s Oracle courses, can I receive credit to apply towards Oracle certification?

No, most of our Oracle courses are customized and therefore not eligible for Oracle certification credits..

What is PTC's course cancellation policy?
