Deliverables
System Health Check and Monitoring (all service options)
System Health Checks consist of the following activities or tasks:
- System Audit - During the initial system assessment and health check, we will perform an audit of your system. We will evaluate your system configuration, storage capacity and backup and recovery procedures. This initial assessment serves as the starting point for regular system monitoring. Remote DBA Services includes email, telephone, and VPN access with required research and analysis.
- Establish System Metrics - Metrics are important in order to determine the health of your system. By establishing system metrics, the state of the system can be constantly evaluated and problems noted. We will determine, based on your application and system, which metrics would be appropriate for your system and determine an initial performance baseline and ongoing measurement criterion.
- Regular Monitoring - The system will be monitored on a regular basis as determined by discussions with Customer. Monitor database performance metrics using Oracle or SQL Server statistics. If required, PTC can provide scripts for data collection.
- System and Database Log Monitoring - Review logs for any errors or warnings and take action as required.
- Space Utilization - Monitor file system space usage.
- Knowledge Transfer - informal knowledge transfer.
- Reporting - Weekly Performance Reports. These reports will indicate whether there are potential problem areas or areas for concern based on logs, file system space usage, system utilization, and the database metrics determined above.
Performance Tuning and Issue Resolution -
Performance tuning and Issue and problem resolution varies by request; however, most requests fall into the following categories:
- System configuration - "best practice" recommendations on how to configure your systems.
- Operational support - Answer questions on how to perform database, cluster and system configuration and other operational tasks.
- Troubleshooting - Assist in debugging system and database problems. Follow-up with Oracle Technical Support as required (Customer must provide a valid CSI number).
- Performance problems - Help identify system bottlenecks and debug performance issues.
- Knowledge transfer - Provide knowledge transfer of database system related topics such as hardware architecture, SAN, new technologies, and best practices, etc.
